Fun with Family and Friends

Well this weekend was jam packed with events for the Smythe family. Saturday morning Daley and I took a road trip to Arlington for Janay's wedding shower. Daley was a good little traveler(mommy was a little nervous...this was our first road tip, just she and I)!!!! We left Wichita Falls at 9am (which was perfect timing for her morning nap) and she she slept almost the entire way there. The shower was really really nice and it looked like Janay got some really cool stuff. Hard to believe that is has been almost 3years that I had a wedding shower just like this. The trip home from Arlington was great as well. Daley slept pretty good but then decided she wanted to play this cool game called "Make Mommy Crazy" LOL just kidding it was really cute cause she would yell "mama" and then I would yell "Daley" and then she said "mama" and we went back and forth FORever. I was a little irritated after 30mins or so but she seemed amused and so I played along. Hey whatever it takes to keep her happy in the car is fine with me:) Saturday night my mom, Bubba, Kelli, Atlee and the Whatley kiddos (mom and Bubba were babysitting) came over for a little family time. We ordered pizza and had ice cream and let the kids play outside. The weather was really really nice and the grown ups had a lot of fun enjoying a few adult beverages (and ice cream too). Sunday morning Daddy woke up and mowed the yard, we went to lunch at Daddys fave restaurant & then Daley and I went to Tara's baby shower. After the shower we picked up Daddy and went on to Chase Brumley's first birthday party. Chase's birthday was so much fun for Daley because that was the first time she had been around that many kiddos that were her age. It was funny cause when we got there we sat her on the ground with all of the kids and she just sat there stunned. It took her a few minutes to soak it all in, BUT before you know it she was right in the middle of the action playing and having a ball!!!! It was so much fun watching her. Of course mommy and daddy were very proud because we got lots and lots of compliments of how pretty she was. We are so proud of our little girl!!!! We think she is gorgeous but of course we are a little biased, so it is nice to hear it reinforced from other people. This was a long long long weekend and needless to say Daley was tired when we finally got home on Sunday evening. So tired (and snotty) in fact that we skipped bathtime and went straight to bed at 6:45 (we skipped one of our naps to party). Well I had been fighting a cold all weekend and on Monday morning the exhaustion and sickness had set in on both Daley and I. I felt like I had been hit by a truck!!!! Mommy stayed home from work on Monday. We wiped snot from our noses and rested all day long. I thought that cold season was over.....guess not.
